WHAT: First-ever in-depth, hands-on, in-person RJ organizing extravaganza and school year kickoff complete with travel stipends and paid hotel accommodations!!!

• gained techniques to recruit/diversify/retain members;
• explored ways to effectively transition leadership so you’re not left hanging at the end of the year;
• learned how to think/talk/organize/mobilize using the Reproductive Justice frame; and
• met amazing people who share your values today and will share this movement with you tomorrow as colleagues and friends.

HOW MUCH: Nothing for some and not much at all for others.
LSRJ will pay the following for ONE representative from each chapter:
• hotel accommodations Friday and Saturday nights;
• breakfast and lunch Saturday and Sunday; and
• ground or air transportation up to $300!
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN WE SEND: You can send up to 3 reps from your chapter. Additional reps will be on their own for travel and hotel costs and will be asked to pay a $30 registration fee per person to cover their meals and materials.

Senior Counsel Jill Morrison will address the following topic—Prosecuting Pregnancy: Why Criminalizing Drug Use During Pregnancy is Unconstitutional.

In New York City, LSRJ members should plan to hear Eve Gartner (deputy director of the Public Policy, Litigation, and Law Department of Planned Parenthood Federation of America) speak about recent developments in South Dakota, particularly the Planned Parenthood v. Rounds decision and the upcoming ballot initiative banning most abortions on Thursday, July 31. This lunch will take place from 1:00-2:00 pm in PPFA’s office located at 434 West 33rd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. On Friday, August 1, Lilly Spitz (Chief Legal Counsel for Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California) will be joining us at the National Office in Oakland to discuss her work at PPAC, the evolution of her career, and recent Supreme Court decisions on reproductive rights law. On Wednesday, July 30, Jessica Arons (Director of the Women’s Health and Rights Program at the Center for American Progress) will discuss her report More than a Choice: A Progressive Vision for Reproductive Health and Rights, as well as recent developments in assisted reproductive technology and the law. The Moriah Fund will be hosting a fantastic seminar for LSRJ members and Legal Advocates for Women from 9 am until 12 noon on Friday, July 25th at its office in Washington, D.C. This seminar will contain invaluable information for anyone who ever has or may in the future do fundraising work as part of her/his job (i.e., anyone who works in public interest law, for any type of non-profit organization, or who sits on a board of directors). Come learn about trends in philanthropy for women’s rights, how to ask for money, and how fundraising can be fun! You will also have the opportunity to meet your fellow LSRJ members, Moriah Fund staff, and many other people who care about funding advocacy for women’s rights.
