Law Students for Reproductive Justice is seeking new student board members who will have the opportunity to shape LSRJ’s long-term organizational direction and participate in the reproductive justice movement on a national level.
Directorship entails monthly meetings, held via conference call; monthly committee meetings, also held via conference call; attendance at national and regional events; and an annual in-person Orientation. All Board Members monitor and assist with programming, review income and expenses, engage in private fundraising, and help to determine the strategies and guidelines for organizational operations. Other opportunities include: establishing personnel policies and procedures, expanding LSRJ’s online presence, serving as a liaison to the alumni community, and managing the annual Sarah Weddington Writing Prize. The time commitment (excluding events) ranges from 5 to 10 hours per month.
Student Board Members serve an initial one-year term, followed by a possible one-year renewal term. Students who serve during their 3L year and then take a fellowship relating to reproductive rights will be eligible for the second term. Rising 2Ls are encouraged to apply. The student-majority Board strives for diversity along multiple axes of identity.
Applications must be submitted to Board President Ashley Gorski at by 5:00 pm PST on Friday, March 19, 2010. LSRJ will conduct phone interviews with finalists in April. New student Board Members will begin their terms in June 2010. We strongly encourage all interested students to apply, and we look forward to your application!

• February 13 – Northeast Region – New York Law School
• February 27 – South Region – Georgia State University
• March 20 – Mid-Atlantic Region – George Washington University
• March 27 – Midwest Region – University of Iowa
Mark your calendars and stay tuned for information about registration from your Regional Coordinators.
LSRJ members, alumni, and allies throughout the country are celebrating the 37th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision today. Many are also taking the opportunity to reflect about the profound impact Roe v. Wade has had on their lives. Read ”I Am the (Timid) Voice of Reproductive Choice” by an anonymous LSRJ member, ”Growing up with Roe” by LSRJ Board Member Aimee Thorne-Thomsen, and ”What Does Choice Mean to Me?” by LSRJ alumna Amanda Allen. Be ready to be moved.
